Let’s Build a Playground!

Let’s Build a Playground!

We are very proud to announce that our inaugural playground installation is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, 2013. It is very exciting to be able to partner with so many generous businesses and individuals in providing a playground for children of the Alex Hope Elementary School. Over the last 8 months PAC and parents have been trying to raise $100,000.00 to install a new playground when unexpectedly last fall the original playground had to be removed for safety reasons. PAC President, Karen Moore spearheaded a team of dedicated and driven parents in raising the required funds for the cause. Brie Walmsley’s fundraising efforts were instrumental in making the vision a reality and we are very pleased to have been able to contribute $30,000 to this worthy project. We also wish to congratulate all the hardworking parents and PAC of Alex Hope Elementary on an exemplary job of raising the necessary funds in such a short time. Your incredible passion has provided the opportunity for the children play, imagine and discover in a safe new environment.

Over this coming weekend a group of parent volunteers will install the new play system for the school. Online Collision will be on hand to provide food for the volunteers. Daryl and Bryan Kruger as well as Rolly Hilland of On Line Collision will be manning the BBQ and cooking up a storm for all the hungry parents.  We wish to express our sincerest appreciation to Charlie of the Walnut Grove IGA for donating the food for the weekend, your generosity is greatly appreciated. We also want to acknowledge and thank Dennis Davidson of Keepsake Photography who will be capturing the excitement of the weekend with his camera. Watch for pictures on our Facebook Page and here our website. Another important contributor in the playground installation is Avante Concrete owner David George who generously donated the concrete for the playground installation. Thank you for your help “cementing” our vision and making this project a “concrete” reality. We are so proud to be associated with such wonderful businesses and people in this community. That so may have banded together to help the children of the community enjoy a place where they can play and enjoy the freedom of youth, is a testament to the adage “It is truly better to give than to receive”, especially when it involves our children. It is fantastic to see the first project coming to fruition and we are looking forward to many more opportunities for “Building Bigger Smiles”.
